Job Description : Program Coordinator (Rabat)

An international organization seeks to hire a Program Coordinator to work in its Rabat office on a full-time basis to support a project to enhance leadership and community-building skills of young women in North Africa and develop a regional network of rising and established women civic leaders and community-based organizations. The position is available immediately. The program coordinator supports staff based in Rabat, other regional offices and the Washington, DC headquarters in day-to-day administration of programs and communication with local partners. The position assists in the design and implementation of activities related to the project.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as an assistant to the program manager in NDI’s Rabat office and maintain regular communication, with supervision, with individual and organizational partners and program participants in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt.
  • Assist program manager with organizing trainings, workshops and other activities.
  • Oversee travel and other relevant logistics for incoming and outgoing program participants, consultants, trainers and NDI staff.
  • Assist in the organization of regional conferences and workshops.
  • Under close supervision, monitor small program budgets and provide proper and timely accounting of funds and expenses.
  • Help maintain an online blog and forum for connecting program participants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to present information and respond to questions in English and Arabic, including the ability to type in Arabic. French is a plus, but not required.
  • Demonstrated coursework or experience in international development, political science, women’s rights, community organizing, organizational development or related subjects
  • Demonstrated experience in logistics, event coordination, communication and strategic thinking.
  • Good interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of NDI staff, political leaders, government representatives, members of the diplomatic community and various sectors of civil society
  • Working knowledge of basic budget and accounting procedures
  • Working knowledge of basic computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheet programs
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
